Daily Affiliate Tasks – Affiliate Marketing Tips

You’ve written some great content and published it…. do you think you’re done and ready to move on to some more writing? Not quite yet. The next few steps are crucial if you want your content to be found on the web.

After you publish your content comes the most important step. You need to go out and promote it. Here are a few quick things you can do:

• Post a link on Facebook.
• Tweet about it.
• Email your list about the new content including a link to it.
• Bookmark your link on a few of your favorite bookmarking sites.
• Write an article or guest blog post and include a link to your content.
• Comment on a few big blogs in your niche and use the link to your new content in the website field of the comment submission form.
• Encourage your blog readers to share the link as well.

Keep doing this every time you post a new piece of content and watch traffic to your website grow.

Here’s another quick affiliate tip for you. Before you write a blog post or article think about what you want to accomplish with the content you are creating. Is it to inform, to sell a product, to get them on your list, to entertain? Whatever your reason, think about that before you start writing. It’ll make all your content much more effective.

I was presenting a Webinar Wednesday night with David Perdew for MyNams.com. It was about going from big goals to small daily tasks. During the presentation, David reminded me of something … This business really isn’t that hard. Folks go out and look for an easy button to making money online all the time (and they spend huge amounts of money on these supposed “push-button” systems).

The truth is, there is an easy button, but you have to punch it a bunch of times. In other words, affiliate marketing is very simple to do, but you have to do the work.

Here’s Your Easy Button Routine:

• Find a market with a problem or a need.
• Create great, helpful content for that market.
• Include affiliate offers as the “next step” or solution.
• Promote your content.
• Rinse and repeat.

That’s it … the problem is, most people won’t sit down and do the work on a consistent basis. And that’s where your chance lies … sit down, do the work and grow your affiliate marketing business.

The most important piece of content you’ll write on any given page is the headline. And in the case of blog posts or articles, that’s usually your title. The assumption is that readers will continue to the rest of the page regardless of what is at the top . This assumption can be a very costly mistake.

Make sure your headline is an accurate representation of what the page is about. You don’t want to be misleading. At the same time you want it to be interesting enough to grab your reader’s attention. Quite a bit of my affiliate income comes from my lists, which explains why I’m always working on growing those lists. Today I thought I’d share a couple of tips with you on how to grow your list virally.

Step One – Set up An Option Page

Start by setting up a dedicated optin page. This can be a page on your website or on a new domain (like www.AffiliateEcourse.com) for example.

When I first got started in affiliate marketing, I made a pretty big mistake. This was by no means my only mistake, but that’s another story. I was trying to offer everybody everything. The end result – hardly any affiliate sales.

Then I learned a very important lesson. I unfortunately don’t remember what marketer I’ve heard this from, but the lesson is this:

A Confused Mind Won’t Buy

In other words, if you give your readers too many choices and put affiliate offer after affiliate offer on your site, they end up not buying anything.

Instead what’s been working for me is to present them with one targeted offer on any given page. Don’t get me wrong here… not every single page has an offer, but if there is an affiliate link on there, it’s usually just one.

For example, on a parenting site I have had for years, I have a series of articles on potty training. At the end of each of those articles I promote a potty training guide. It’s a very targeted offer and exactly the type of thing my readers are looking for while they are browsing the web looking for potty training tips.
